What do you think? NATURAL DISASTERS

Some students blamed hurricanes, earthquakes and floods on science.  Is that fair?  Think carefully.  I think it is not an easy or obvious answer.

I could go either way with this question. It might be a mixture. For the part of me that says I would blame science I think that science had had a bad impact on global warming. Global warming can effect natural disasters.
Then I ask why would you ever blame science for this? Science has helped us in so many ways, and could help us with these disasters as well.
So I can't say which side I believe in at this point.

  2. Alex Rus thinks that science can only be blamed for flooding. Flooding can always be controlled with the right kind of drains. Scientists could have worked on better systems to drain the water, and collect it for future usage. A lot of drains just empty the fresh water into the ocean where it becomes salty, and undrinkable. Scientists should make a better system or drains that keep the water for when we run out.

  3. For at least 2 of these disasters, I honestly cannot see any possible reason to blame science. I really do not think it is possible.

  5. Greg Thinks that science does not have to do with natural disasters. Natural disasters are to powerful to be influenced by science.

  6. I agree with Alex Rus. Science could be blamed for floods because they could prepare drains that could help prevent those terrible occurrence. Also you could blame science for the severity of hurricanes. You can't blame science for the forming of a hurricane, but for the severity of the hurricane. Science has been creating...... to be continued
